The Bruce Hagan Memorial Regatta is an annual event to remember a friend and to raise money for his daughter's college trust fund.

On Labor Day, 1998, an unusually severe storm swept through New York Harbor, causing the loss of one of our club members, Bruce Hagan.
In his memory each year, the Manhattan Sailing Club organizes the Bruce Hagan Memorial Regatta on the last day of sailing. This is a one day regatta open to all boats in the harbor. The purpose is to raise money for the college trust fund of Alix Hagan, Bruce's daughter.
Places in the Bruce Hagan Memorial Regatta are allocated based on standings in the spring, summer and fall series. The top half of the Tuesday series and the top half of the Wednesday series will receive automatic berths. This event is a "Championship of Champions." Other teams will receive berths based on availability.
Three or more races will be sailed (if weather cooperates). The Race Committee can choose to race windward-leeward courses around special buoys or around the standard government marks.
The prizes of the Annual Regatta will be awarded at the Annual Dinner.
Then on Sunday, the decommissioning of the club fleet will be performed to prepare the boats for winter.

Notice of Race
Location: Upper Bay of New York Harbor
Rules: This regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing, the US Sailing Association Prescriptions, and the stand MSC sailing instructions.
Schedule:
11:00 a.m. - Skipper's Meeting
11:30 a.m. - Harbor Start
12:00 p.m. - Start Race 1
Race 2 and 3 follow Race 3.
Races will
be back to back.
No race will be started after 5:00 p.m.
Entry Fee: The Entry Fee is a donation to The Alexandra Stasia Hagan Trust Fund. The suggested donation per team is $250 per team total (larger donations for the educational fund are appreciated).
Scoring: The low point scoring system Racing Rules of Sailing, Appendix A will be used.
