Racing at Manhattan Yacht Club began THIRTY YEARS AGO this May! If you want to get involved in this historic year, come hear what’s happening in our racing programs for 2017.
Join the great tradition of CHAMPIONS at our Club. This Racing Meet-Up will be held at our Clubhouse in Jersey City from 6 to 8 p.m. (or later!). Please RSVP to Mindy at mindy@myc.org.
Who should attend? Everyone! There is a spot for everyone in the racing programs. You can participate as a crew on an existing team, you can help start a new team, you can help out on the race committee. All you have to do is be enthusiastic and like hanging out with your fellow Members.
There is J/24 racing on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The Corporate Sailing League is Thursday. This year, MYC is bringing back PHRF racing on Thursdays and Saturdays. Look for the new IOD Fleet to race on PHRF evenings as well as occasional start by one of the two America’s Cup 12 Meters!
Whether you want to start racing or join our high-energy Race Committee, you won’t want to miss this meet-up! Last year, our Race Committee hit new heights, even starting the New York to Vendee Trans-Atlantic Race in New York Harbor!
This year will be even more exciting with our Club’s 30th Anniversary and the re-introduction of PHRF racing on Thursdays for Members. (You do not need any previous experience to join Race Committee, so long as you’re a MYC member and want to get involved.)
Don’t come empty handed! Bring some beers, a bottle of wine or another beverage. Bring some cheese, crackers or snacks! Arrive early and stay late. Being part of the racing program is more than just sailing – it’s also about socializing!
If you are a skipper looking for more race crew, this will be a great event for recruiting. If you are a crew looking for a race team, come meet other Members and if you get a group of 5 or more, form your own team and draft a skipper! Let’s make it happen.
