The First 100 Regatta

A special tradition returns.

As a prelude to Manhattan Yacht Club’s great 40th Anniversary season next summer, we are bringing back one of the Club’s most meaningful traditions: The First 100 Regatta.

This regatta honors the 100 longest-serving members of Manhattan Yacht Club—the members whose loyalty, participation and support have helped build our Club and sustain it through the years.

This will be a gathering of some of the people who have been part of the Club’s story the longest, coming together once again on the water.

The format is simple and special. All members of the First 100 are invited to participate in one of two ways:

1. Race – Be part of a race boat. Race boats will be allocated to First 100 Members who are skippers on a first come basis. Approved skippers can then build their own crew from other members of the First 100.  Only First 100 members can participate.

2. Officiate – All other members of the First 100 who are not racing are invited to serve as “Honorary Race Officials.” Your mission is to watch the race from the Honorable William Wall and ensure the integrity and historical accuracy of the competition.

2026 Boats & Skippers
Registration for skippers will stay open until Sept 1. If there are more skippers than available boats, then the boats will go first to the lowest number member. Please keep in mind there are only 100 possible sailors and crew so please build your team while there is still crew available! If two or more skippers request the same boat, then the boat will be allocated to the lowest number skipper. Rank has its privileges! All skippers and boats will be finalized on Sept 1.

The regatta will consist of a single race each year. This will be a non-spinnaker race. This year, the Skippers Meeting will be held at the club at 4 pm on Friday, October 2, 2026.  The race will then start at 5 pm.

Following the race, we will gather for a First 100 Party at the Trophy Room to celebrate the competitors, renew old friendships and recognize the extraordinary commitment these members have made to Manhattan Yacht Club.

For nearly 40 years, thousands of people have passed through Manhattan Yacht Club, learned to sail here, raced here, made friendships here and helped create the remarkable sailing community we enjoy today. The First 100 represent a very special connection to that history.

This is their regatta. This is their celebration. And this October, a great Club tradition returns.
