A “Three Musketeers Sail” is part of the Fleet Captain Program. This is a new concept being tested in 2021. It is designed to encourage more participation from volunteer skippers who are the key to making the Fleet Captain Program successful.
“Three Musketeer Sails” are more social than a regular Fleet Captain Sail. For a Three Musketeer Sail, the crew is required to bring great food and drink for apres-sailing.
Before sailing, the crew should put their beers, wines and other beverages into the communal cooler for chilling, and also their food for the BBQ into the designated cooler near the grills.
While the sail is underway, Club staff will set up a long table outdoors at the new clubhouse.
After sailing, the crew will begin preparing the food and BBQ. All sailors will begin with a standing cocktail party while waiting for the BBQ to be cooked.
Once the food is finished, all sailors will sit at the long table with sailors from the same boat grouped together. During dinner, the crew is should keep the glasses of the Three Musketeers and their First Mates filled.
The Fleet Captain Program is made up of volunteer skippers who dedicate their time, skills and knowledge to make sailing more accessible for other Members. For this program to be the best it can be, it is important that crew return the favor by acknowledging and thanking our great volunteer skippers. The Three Musketeers Sail is designed to thank and reward skippers so they volunteer more often.
This is what the dinner is like:
Skippers – If you are a skipper who is willing to participate and share your sailing skills with other Members, and you like to sail and socialize with two other skippers within the Club, we encourage you to participate in the Three Musketeers Sail. Just send an email to office@myc.org with the names of the skippers as well as the day and time for the sail.
Crew – the Three Musketeer Sails is a new program and participation options will be limited until we can attract several groups of Musketeers. If you wish to participate as a crew in one of these sails, and you commit to bringing fine beverages and excellent BBQ provisions, then send an email to office@myc.org with the sail you wish to be part of. Our goal this fall is to let as many Members as possible participate in one Three Musketeer Sail to test the program. Then we can open it up fully in the spring. Please only sign up for one sail this fall, unless there are open spots at the last minute in a sail, in which case you could participate again.
We are testing this program in fall of 2021 and if the program is successful, we will make it more formal for next season.
