Racing Area: Races will be held in New York Harbor. All races will start and finish from the Honorable William Wall, Manhattan Yacht Club’s floating clubhouse anchored north of Ellis Island.
Courses: Courses will be windward-leeward. Inflatable marks will be set by Race Committee. Because the starting location is fixed, races may start upwind or downwind.
Crew: This is an event for women sailors. Unlimited crew substitution of similar weight is allowed during the regatta.
Entry Fee & National Team Sponsors: Teams will not be charged any entry fee but they may be responsible for the cost of their social events. Once a team enters, the Foundation will meet with the Consulate of that nation to solicit businesses which might wish to support their national teams. If the Foundation is able to raise support through the Consulate, this will be allocated first towards the cost of a national spinnaker and the boat charter fee, and then towards covering the cost of social events and possibly housing for the visiting sailors.
Damage & Insurance Pool: Each team is responsible for the cost of any boat damage they cause up to a maximum of $2,000 per occurrence. Teams may also join a self-administered insurance pool to cover damage to boats during the regatta. The insurance premium is $500 per team. The pool will pay to make repairs, and any remaining balance will be divided among the participating teams.
Scoring: The Low Point Scoring System will be used. If four or more races are completed, each team may discard one race.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the top four teams.
