Annual Events

Manhattan Yacht Club is the largest and most active community of sailors in New York Harbor.  Sailors like to meet and hang out together.  We organize many events through the year.  During our sailing season from May through October, most of the events occur at our club docks.  During the off-season from November through April events occur at various locations. Below are some of our important Annual Events.

The Commissioning Ceremony
The May ceremony which officially starts the new sailing season.

The Annual Dinner
The boisterous December dinner when awards are presented.

The Annual Sailors Ball
The April black tie fundraiser which celebrates the return of the sailing season.

Member Nights on the Honorable William Wall
Every Tuesday Members & their guests go out for free May through September.

Tuesday & Wednesday Racing
Racing is held every Tuesday and Wednesday evening from May to October.

The Annual Cruise on Arabella
Once a year, Arabella offers a special cruise for members.

The Lucky Dog Races
An informal and fun pick up series every Friday during July & August.

Full Moon Flotillas
Once per month members light up their boats and round the Statue.

Freedom Fridays
Once a month, there is a women’s sailing event at the club to grow participation..

The Full Moon Party
The signature event of our floating clubhouse in the harbor. Get ready to HOWL.

Spring Launching
Members gather in the boatyard to paint the bottoms and the first BBQ of the season.

John LaGrassa Memorial Regatta
Our October season ending regatta where Tuesday & Wednesday teams can compete together.

De Caribbean Regatta
Our annual Caribbean sailing vacation, one week of fun, sun and sailing.

The Shorthanded Championship
Every August, sailors test their true mettle by racing with just 2 people.

The Women’s Championship
Every August, there is a women’s only race.

Blue Water Society Dinner
The February dinner to celebrate and encourage significant ocean passages.

Ring of Fire Gathering
An educational flare demonstration held after the first snow each winter.

Decommissioning of the Fleet
The October day when Members help clean boats and drop masts.

Drink the Bar Dry Party
The November gathering which finishes all the extra drinks left over from the season.
